FSB Musical Stage Concert

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will present music of “The Musical Stage” on Wed., July 27. The 7:15 p.m. performance is the seventh in the Wednesday night Buttermilk Festival series at Buttermilk Creek Park in Fond du Lac.

Highlights from the Irving Berlin musical “Annie Get Your Gun” will feature Liz Shipe and Matt Ecclestone.  The pair of singing actors is active in the Milwaukee theater scene; Shipe is the daughter of the Band’s Associate Conductor Dale Shipe and his wife Nancee.

Soprano Elise Thelen Winkel will sing Gounod’s Ave Maria and the familiar Mozart Alleluia from Exsultate Jubilate.

The Band will play themes from Verdi’s opera Rigoletto and War March of the Priests by Mendelssohn. Also programmed are selections from Evita and the Disney movie Brave.

Rounding out the concert fare are God’s Country by Galante, a medley of Billy Joel hits, and Crosley March by Fillmore.

The Symphonic Band’s Buttermilk Creek Park concerts are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac, along with free-will offerings that are received during each concert. In the event of unsuitable weather, the performance will be held at the Recreation Building at the County Fairgrounds.

Next on the Buttermilk Festival music calendar will be the Disciples of Dixieland on Aug. 3.
