The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will present the 37th annual Family Night at Buttermilk Creek Park in Fond du Lac on Wed., July 13 starting at 7:15 p.m. The evening will open with a 6:00 p.m. performance by PRESTO, a 48-piece youth orchestra from Denmark.
Flute soloist Marla Hoffman will perform Variations on Twinkle, Twinkle, while long-time band piccolo player Mary Arthur will offer an early 20th century pop piece, The Whistler and his Dog. The trumpet section will be featured in Trumpeters’ Lullaby, while the trombone section will offer up Trombone Rag.
Vocalist Eva Thelen Dunphy will sing music from Mary Poppins and Teddy Bear’s Picnic, as the children march in the popular Teddy Bear parade, led by a drum major from Fondy High.
Selected 8th grade band students will perform with the Band on Military Escort March. In a nod to the upcoming Olympic games, the Band will play Olympic Fanfares. Other selections include selections from Hunger Games, Disney Movie Magic,and Pie in the Face Polka.
