42nd ANNUAL FAMILY NIGHT WED. JULY 13

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will present the 42nd annual Family Night at Buttermilk Creek Park in Fond du Lac on Wed., July 13. Under the direction of Associate Conductor Jill Wagner and Assistant Conductor Nickole Kawleski, the concert will begin at 7:15 p.m.

The theme: “Bands Around the World’ will feature music of many countries and cultures.

Fifteen eighth graders, chosen by the band directors in six area schools, will join the Band to play the march The Alamo, and the trumpet section will be featured in Traveling Trumpets. Marcie and Jim Ninnemann will play Swiss Walking Song on alphorn, and Erin Steward will be featured oboe soloist.

The band will perform marches from Spain, Austria, and Germany, along with music of America including Across the Great Plains, Prairiesong and marches Americans We and Stars and Stripes Forever.

 There will be a Kiddies’ March around the park, and children 8 years old and

younger may participate in a conducting contest, Free face painting will be available during the first half of the concert.

Family Night is sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac, along with a free-will offering that will be received during the concert. In the event of bad weather, the performance will be moved to the Theisen Middle School gymnasium.

Next up on the summer schedule is a performance by the Symphonic Band in Campbellsport on July 14. The 7:30 p.m. concert will open with a performance by the Happy Hour Band at 6:00 p.m.
