Family Night Concert on Wed. July 7

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will present the 41st  annual Family Night at Buttermilk Creek Park in Fond du Lac on Wed., July 7. Under the direction of Associate Conductor Jill Wagner, assisted by Nickole Kawleski, the concert will begin at 7:15 p.m.

With the theme “Everything Plus the Kitchen Sink,” the program will include a variety of music chosen to entertain and delight children of all ages along with the young at heart.

Nickole Kawleski perform a traditional alto saxophone solo, Nola, and the woodwind and percussion sections will be featured on  Africa.

A variety of sounds and special effects will enhance three novelty selections: Uncle Lumpy’s Garage by Timothy and Jenna Mahr, Extraordinary Machines of Clockwork and Steam by Scott Watson, and Powerhouse by Raymond Scott.

There will be a conducting contest for kids aged 8 and under, while the band plays the National Emblem March by Bagley. Other selections include It’s a Small World, The Entertainer Rag, and At Morning’s First Light, which was composed by noted American composer David Gillingham, a native of Rosendale WI.

Family Night is sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac, along with a free-will offering that will be received during the concert. In the event of bad weather, the performance will be moved to the County Fairgrounds.

Next up on the summer schedule is a performance by the Symphonic Band in Campbellsport on Thursday, July 8. The 7:30 p.m. concert will open with a performance by the Fond du Lac Senior Center SCAMP band at 6:00 p.m.
