The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band wraps up its summer season with “Fan Favorites” on Wed., August 21. Under the direction of Music Director Evan Chancellor, Associate Conductor Jill Koerwitz and Assistant Conductor Nickole Kawleski, the 7:15 p.m. performance will take place at the Wifler Performance Center in Buttermilk Creek Park, S. Park Avenue in Fond du Lac.
The program will be a potpourri of music from the band’s summer series of concerts as voted on by the audience and band members. Selections include the English Folk Song Suite by Vaughn Williams, The Olympics Centennial Celebration, John Williams: Movie Adventures, and Hans Zimmer Movie Milestones. Also on the program are Ragged Rozey by Karl King, Gershwin!, Totally Tina Turner, If I Only Had a Brain from Wizard of Oz, and The Symphonic Beatles.
The concert will close with band alumni invited to join with the band to play the official march of the United States: Stars and Stripes Forever by Sousa.
The Symphonic Band’s summer park concerts are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac and a free-will offering that will be received during the evening. A food concession will be available, and in the event of bad weather, the performance will be moved to the Recreation Building at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.
