“Kings & Queens of Pop” is the theme for the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band’s fourth Buttermilk Festival concert on Wednesday, August 7. The performance will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Wifler Performance Center in Buttermilk Creek Park, under the direction of Music Director Evan Chancellor.
The program will feature euphonium soloist Chris Barnes playing Blue Bells of Scotland; David Naegele, trumpet, and John Gohl, trombone playing H. L. Clarke’s Cousins. Tributes to pop icons include Boy Bands Then and Now, Totally Tina Turner, A tribute to Michael Jackson, Beatles Gold, and Pop Rock Legends: Elvis.
The Symphonic Band’s Buttermilk Creek Park concerts are sponsored by the City of Fond du Lac, along with free-will offerings that are received during each concert. A food concession is available, and In the event of unsuitable weather, the performance will be held at the Recreation Building at the County Fairgrounds.
Next on the Buttermilk Festival music calendar will be the Kids from Wisconsin on August 14, followed by the Symphonic Band playing “Fan Favorites” on August 21. On Thursday, August 15, the Symphonic Band will travel to Lomira for their annual appearance at Sterr Park, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
