The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will highlight “Music of Broadway” as it kicks off  the 33rd Buttermilk Festival season at Buttermilk Creek Park on Wednesday, June 15 at 7:15 p.m.  Sharing the podium with Music Director Dale Shipe will be guest conductor Dr. Evan Chancellor, Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music at Lakeland University.

Flugelhorn soloist David Naegele will play Send in the Clowns, as arranged for the Symphonic Band by Fond du Lac native and prominent American composer/arranger Scott Lindroth.

The program will feature selections from Broadway musicals through the decades, including 76 Trombones from The Music Man, The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Cats, Les Miserables, Wicked and Hamilton.

Next on the Wednesday night series is the popular European ethnic band, Dorf Kapelle on June 22 and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will return for its 22nd Festival appearance on June 29.

The concession stand will be hosted by Project Linus, offering  sandwiches, desserts and beverages beginning at 6:15 p.m. In the event of unsuitable weather, the concert will be moved to the Fond du Lac County fairgrounds.
